If I write in, will the charge still increase from £30 to £60 after 14 days?
No. When a letter contesting a PCN is received, the case is put on hold. Therefore, provided that your letter is received within 14 days of the PCN being issued, the case will be on hold at the reduced sum of £30, whilst your case is considered. We will write to you with our decision.

Why does the charge increase from £30 to £60 after 14 days?
The charge does not increase from £30 to £60. PCNs are issued at a fixed rate of £60 as dictated by the Home Office. But, you only pay £30 if your payment is received within 14 days from the date of issue of the PCN.
