If you want to claim Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax Benefit, you will need to fill in and submit a claim form. You can get the form by:
1) printing the one of the forms available at On-line forms
2) calling our "forms request" answer phone on 01227 862313 and leaving your name, address and a request for a form, or
3) visiting any of our offices.
There are two types of claim form:
1) a Council Tax benefit only claim form (suitable if you are not liable to pay rent for your home),
2) a Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit claim form.
We cannot normally backdate benefit; so you should claim as soon as possible, even before you move into the property.
