The Housing Benefit regulations state how a monthly rent is converted into a weekly figure.
If your rent is monthly we multiply it by 12 to get the yearly figure and divide by 52 to get a weekly figure.
Example:
500 per month
500 x 12 = 6000 / 52 = 115.38 per week
600 per month
600 x 12 = 7200 / 52 = 138.46 per week
We do not divide the calendar monthly figure by 4 to get a weekly amount as this would mean that there were only 48 weeks in the year, not 52.
