Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit are both means tested benefits. This means that these benefits will be affected by each applicants personal circumstances.
When applicants declare there personal circumstances to us we ask the applicants to provide evidence to support their claim. By doing this we ensure that Public Funds are safeguarded as far as possible from applicants making fraudulent claims.
The Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit Regulations place the responsibility on the claimant to provide the information and evidence we need to make a decision about your claim. To help us decide your claim please make any supporting information and evidence available as quickly as possible, otherwise your claim may be delayed.
