I want my Benefit backdated. How do I claim?

Housing and or Council Tax Benefit can only be backdated for a maximum of 52 weeks from the date you make the claim. You must prove "continious good cause" throughout the time you wish your benefit to be backdated for.

A backdate request must be made in writing on either the benefit claim form or in a letter, clearly stating the reasons why you want your benefit backdated, and the reason(s) you did not claim throughout the peroid you are requesting backdating
