If recyclables and landfill waste are being collected together in the same vehicle, how are recyclables kept separate?

The vehicle being used has two separated compartments that allow separate collection without contamination.

The recyclables are taken to the Materials Recycling Facility at Hersden to be sorted, separated and baled for reprocessing. Garden waste is taken to a commercial composting facility.
