Frequently asked questions

Where should I put my waste for collection?

Leave your bin at the boundary of your property, at the nearest point to the highway, by 7am on your collection day.

Take your bin off the footpath or road as soon as possible after the bins have been emptied.

Please don't put your wheelie bin or black/purple sacks on the footpath or roadway unless it's your collection day. Doing this is an offence under the Highways Act 1980. The city council will remove bins or sacks from the pavement if they are continually causing an obstruction (warning letters will be issued).

Make sure your waste is not an obstruction to pedestrians - people with impaired eyesight are especially vulnerable to wheelie bins and sacks being left where they shouldn't be.
