The Environment Agency operates a Flood Warden scheme. Nominated members in a community are notified by the Environment Agency and then they notify residents who have requested to be notified. In areas that are not covered by this scheme residents are notified by vehicle mounted loud hailers. If evacuation becomes necessary residents are notified individually by door knocking. The local media i.e. local radio stations are notified and put out public service announcements
