Frequently asked questions

What happens if I lose my appeal to the Council and NPAS, but refuse to pay?

If you lose your appeal to NPAS you must pay the PCN. If you refuse, the amount of the PCN will increase to £90 and a Charge Certificate is issued. If payment of £90 is not received within 14 days, the case is registered as a debt at the county court.

A registration fee of ?£ is then added to the debt making the total amount outstanding £95. This is the last stage at which you can make payment to Canterbury City Council.

If payment of £95 is not made within 21 days, the matter is passed to a bailiff company for collection of the outstanding debt. The bailiff company will then add their own charges. These can add considerably to the amount payable.
