Gallery - Tenterden Drive
27 Tenterden Drive, Canterbury
Description:
The building was constructed in 1965 and is located in Tenterden Drive, Canterbury. Previously it has been used as a seven bedroomed house.
Canterbury City Council acquired the property from Kent County Council approximately 13 years ago and used it as a hostel for young people, managed by the charity Porchlight.
The building was in a poor condition and in desperate need of major alterations and refurbishment to bring it back to a habitable condition.
The proposal was to convert the building into two new semi-detached houses. The scheme was designed and managed by Senior Project Manager, Ben Thornby in consultation with the council's housing team.
The work was undertaken by Jenner (Contractors) Ltd, who won the contract by competitive tendering. Works started on 02/03/09 and completed 08/05/09.
