Coast Protection at Reculver - Options for the future
Options for the Future
The introduction of the Shoreline Management Plans formalised the process for determining the best all-round method of dealing with a coast protection problem. Firstly the best strategy (do nothing, retreat the line, hold the line or advance the line) is identified. Then the most cost-efficient way of implementing the chosen strategy is worked out.
Eight broad strategic options were drawn up, two with sub-options. These were then examined in sufficient detail to determine the technical requirements and costs of any engineering works and to assess each option's environmental impacts and economic consequences.
