Contacting the council
You can contact the council in any of the following ways:
- Telephone - all council services have direct dial telephone numbers
- Our phone lines are open from 8am until 6.30pm
- E-mail - many council services have dedicated e-mail addresses
- Visiting the council offices in person - visit our offices in Canterbury, Herne Bay and Whitstable
- Writing - if you prefer pen and ink, look here for postal addresses

- Using our comments and complaints scheme - to make a comment, complaint or suggestion about any of our services.

If you need to contact the council in an emergency outside these hours or at weekends please telephone 01227 781 879. All emergency calls are recorded.
To avoid disappointment, it is advisable to call first if you are visiting to talk to a particular officer.

You can also contact us in writing, by addressing your enquiry to either an internal officer (by using the A to Z database) or to a service at the relevant office address. (see above).
If you write to us, we will:
- aim to reply to all letters, e-mails and faxes within 14 working days;
- use plain and correct English and provide full contact details; and
- if asked, provide information in Braille, in another language, on audio tape or in large type.
