Welcome to the Children & Youth Service
The Children and Youth Team are part of the Community Development Service at Canterbury City Council. We are dedicated to working with children and young people aged five to 18 years; we aim to encourage personal and social development through positive play in an 'out of school, out of home' setting. In April 2006 the Children and Youth Team worked with an action group of young people to create a website specifically for young people

Street Team works with young peopleout and about in their local communities. Street Team provides fun activities, advice and support, encouraging young people to work together to improve their area and get involved in local decision making. |

"Say What?" is Canterbury City Council's young consultants scheme, which is an opportunity for young people to have their say and express their views about the decisions the council are making. Young people that express an interest in the scheme are put on a database and invited along to participate inmeetings and consultation evenings |

Hot Topix is an annual event that the city council holds to celebrate and find out young people's views and ideas on issues that affect them. This conference is for 11-16 year olds and is now in its fifth year. Young people themselves get involved in planning, organising and facilitating the event , supported by our team. |
