Architectural Services

Parklife Childrens CentreThe Architectural Services section delivers the full range of quality construction services to all Council departments, as well as clients from other organisations, previous clients include schools, community groups, registered social landlords and other authorities.

Such services range from feasibility studies for new sites to assess the development capacity and potential, full contract management services from inception to completion including tendering and site supervision and also provides construction and related regulation advice for other service providers.


Kingsmead Childrens CentreThe extensive portfolio of projects, involving both major refurbishment or new build works, is varied in both building type and scale. They include general and special needs housing, sheltered housing for the elderly, new leisure centres and community buildings and also disabled adaptations, simple extensions and space planning.

The section plays an active role in ensuring that the Council's housing stock complies with national Decent Homes Standards through the programming and completion of many refurbishment contracts.

Worthgate Place toiletsThe section contains a full time Senior Project Manager, Architectural Assistant and a part time Administration Officer. It provides a member of the Quality Improvement Team that was responsible for implementing and maintaining the British Standards Institution accredited Management System.

    • Demolition and new build of the public toilets on Castle Row, Dane John Gardens.
  • Parklife Youth Centre
    • A new centre providing separate accommodation for children's centre, youth centre and additional community functions in Herne Bay.
  • Tower Way Toilets
    • Installation and construction of new toilet building comprising of Disabled-accessible / Baby Change Cubicles and Unisex / Baby-Change Cubicles.
  • Longport Toilets
    • Installation of new toilet cubicles comprising of Disabled-accessible / Baby Change Cubicles and Unisex / Baby-Change Cubicles.
  • Property in Swalecliffe
    • Two Storey side extension to a council house in Swalecliffe.
  • Surestart Chidrens Centre
    • Construction of a new childrens centre along Kingsmead Road, Canterbury
  • Lucerne Community Centre
    • Single storey extension to community centre.
  • Property in Herne Bay
    • Single storey extension to a council house in Herne Bay.
  • Tenterden Drive Rebuild 
    • Construction of four 2 bedroomed self contained flats.
  • Hampton Pier Public Convenience
    • Refurbishment and alterations to existing public convenience located at Hampton Pier carpark, Herne Bay.
  • Visitor Centre
    • Internal alterations to Canterbury City Council's Canterbury office to provide a new visitor centre.
