Sports Development
The Sports Development Team aims to improve access to and develop more interest in sport and physical activity. This involves working in partnership with a wide range of organisations to build on regional and local initiatives.
The team organises projects, programmes and competitions in order to increase levels of participation to all sectors of the community. The team offer a wide range of services, advice and knowledge to residents, clubs, schools and organisations within the district to promote a healthy and active lifestyle.

Young People
- The Sports Development Team organises a number of activites throughout the school holidays and each year produce a Summer Activities Brochure detailing all the multi-sport and sport-specific camps, as well as activities that run at the district's leisure centres.
- We run the under 11 District Football Team which enables players from the district primary schools to progress and develop in their sport, as well as represent Canterbury in tournaments and matches against other district's in Kent. For more information please visit www.kentschoolsfa.org.uk.
- We provide coaching for schools in a number of sports and organise leagues and competitions including Mini Soccer Competition, Girls Football Competition, Tag Rugby League and Kwik Cricket Festivals. - Through StreetGames we provide free activity for 11-18 year olds at a number of estates across the district in a bid to reduce anti-social behaviour. Find out where sessions are taking place by visiting www.activecanterbury.org.

Working with the Canterbury and District Netball League we run a successful Back to Netball project. If you haven't played netball since school or are a complete beginner then these sessions are for you! Come join us at Ames Levett Sports Centre Kent County Cricket Ground, Old Dover Road, CT1 3NZ on Thursdays from 7.15pm-8.45pm. Cost to attend is £4. Back to Rounders! Did you used to enjoy playing rounders at school but haven't done so since? The Sports Development Team in partnership with England Rounders will be running fun, friendly sessions suitable for beginners or those who haven't played for a while. Taking place every Thursday from 5th May, 6.30pm-7.30pm at Beverley Meadow, Canterbury. The sessions provide a great way for adults to get active this summer in a friendly, sociable enviornment, cost to attend is £2. There is no need to book-just turn up!

Disability Sport

- Wheelchair Tennis sessions run once a month at Canterbury Indoor Tennis Centre, please visit www.activecanterbury.org for specified dates and times.
