Appeal a food hygiene rating

If you've received a food hygiene rating and are not satisfied with the result, there are a number of things you can do.

Appeal a rating

If you disagree with our decision you can submit an appeal. You must submit this within 14 days of receiving the letter.

Right to reply

You can submit a right to reply which allows you to explain the circumstances that led to the rating at the time of inspection. This will be published on the Food Standards Agency website alongside your rating.

Request a rescore

If you've made the recommended improvements we suggested you can request a rescore of your business before your next planned inspection. This will cost £150 and will be completed within four weeks of your request.
