How we make decisions

Councillors from all political parties sit on committees and decide on the services we provide. The rules for making these decisions are set out in our constitution.

All councillors attend a 'Full Council' meeting several times a year to decide our budgets and policies. There are a number of other smaller committees including:

  • Licensing
  • Planning
  • Regeneration and Property

Council officers provide professional advice to help councillors make decisions, and can sometimes make a direct decision in areas such as planning enforcement.

See full details for committee meetings including agendas, minutes and audio recordings where available.
