Personal and premises licences

See if you need a personal or premises licence

We're responsible for issuing alcohol and entertainment licences in the district.

Premises licence

You will need a premises licence if your business plans to do any of the following:

  • supply alcohol
  • play live or recorded music
  • show or host film events
  • sell hot food after 11pm and before 5am
  • host boxing or wrestling entertainment
  • host indoor sporting events
  • performance of a play

Personal licence

If your business plans to sell alcohol then you will need to designate a premises supervisor, who must have a personal licence.

The personal licence authorises that person to sell or supply alcohol at a licensed premises.
