Local planning policies
About the Local Plan
The Local Plan (adopted in July 2017) sets out plans to develop Canterbury District until 2031. We use it to help make planning decisions for the area.
The Local Plan includes:
- housing, employment, infrastructure and open space development
- major developments such as Mountfield Park
- policies to protect and improve the environment
- a proposals map showing the allocated areas for development
The authority monitoring reports monitor the effectiveness of the Local Plan.
There are a number of other documents which relate to the adoption of the Local Plan.
You may like to see consultation documents and comments that form the evidence base for the Local Plan and were considered before it was adopted.
