You will need:

  • Your National Insurance (NI) Number and
  • Date of birth

It will take around five minutes to register.

Annual canvass

Every year we carry out a canvass to make sure we have the right details for you on the electoral register.

Household Enquiry Form

All households in the district should have received a Household Enquiry Form (HEF) between Friday 11 August and Monday 21 August, with an individual security code.

We'll send reminder forms to households that haven't replied.

We use HEFs to check our records and find out who is not currently registered to vote. The HEF is not a registration form but you do need to complete it.

Please confirm that your details are correct, or tell us about any changes at www.householdresponse.com/Canterbury

If your details haven’t changed, you can also let us know by calling 0800 197 9871, or texting NOCHANGE followed by your individual security code to 80212. Standard network charges apply.

Alternatively, you can complete the hard copy form and post it back to us in the envelope provided.

Invitation to Register

Once we've received the completed HEFs, we'll be sending people not registered to vote an Invitation to Register (ITR) form.

It only takes five minutes to register to vote online. All you need is your NI number and date of birth.

If you don't register when asked to by the Electoral Registration authority you could be fined.
