What community-led housing is

Community-led housing is built, purchased, or run by local people in their own communities as non-profit.

Community-led housing is about local people playing a leading role in solving housing problems; creating affordable homes and strong communities in ways that are difficult to achieve through mainstream housing.

We have a significant and growing housing crisis in the UK. Providing more homes is a major government priority, and community-led housing is part of a national agenda.

Community-led housing schemes are often small, but can create a big impact on individuals and communities; creating community assets and helping to support local economies.

We have been awarded funding from the government’s Community Housing Fund to support communities to deliver new homes. We're working in partnership with Dover, Thanet and Folkestone and Hythe councils to provide training, information and support, and help community-led housing groups get funding.
