Food waste recycling
When we collect your food waste, it's taken to a local digestion facility in Kent where it is turned into biogas (a natural source of energy) and fertiliser used in farming.
The biogas from your food waste is also fed to the national grid and powers the plant itself, as an alternative to using fossil fuels.
Recycling food waste separately from your general waste is also more cost-effective, because less energy is used to process it through incineration.
