Under the current local government system, Kent County Council delivers some services like education, social services and roads, and district or borough councils like us deliver others, like emptying your bins and providing council housing.
In the proposed new system unitary councils would deliver all council services in one area. Medway Council is already an example of a unitary council.
You can find out about the changes, including how councils will be run, what happens next and the proposed timeline on the Kent Council Leaders website.
If you want to know how it might change the services we deliver, you can ask us a question about local government reorganisation.
