Our climate change action plan

Find out what we're doing as a council to react to climate change.

We declared a climate emergency in July 2019. 

Our net zero and adaptation action plan was adopted in April 2026 and sets out how we plan to:

  • meet net zero for our own services and buildings (like our waste collections and community centres) by 2030
  • meet net zero for all activities that support our work (like zero carbon fittings for new retail units) by 2050
  • support climate resilience across our services, public buildings and infrastructure

It also covers how we'll lead the district in reducing its own emissions.
