How can I pay my council tax?
The easiest way is to set up a Direct Debit. You can set one up online using our simple form and we’ll do the rest.
How do you work out my council tax bill?
The money you pay each month is based on your council tax band and the money we need to run the services we provide. The total amount we take is the difference between how much budget we need and how much we have to spend.
What happens if I don't pay my council tax?
We’ll send you a reminder giving you seven days to pay. You might have to pay the full amount if you fall behind with payments more than three times in a year.
Can I appeal my council tax bill?
You can easily appeal your council tax bill online under some circumstances - such as you think you’ve not been given a discount you’re entitled to or someone else should be paying the bill.

Visit the council
The council offices are open on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10am and 2pm. You'll need to call 01227 862 000 to book to see someone during these times.
