The Secretary of State for Transport hereby gives notice that he proposes to make an order under sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980. This order will remove the trunk road status from a length of the A2 Trunk Road Westbound Off Slip, as shown by the hatching on plan 37827/2001/005. It will become the A2 principal road which is transferred to Kent County Council as the Local Highway Authority from the date on which the order comes into force.

Copies of the draft order and the plan referred to in it may be inspected free of charge at all reasonable hours from 14 April 2022 until 26 May 2022 at the offices of the National Highways, Bridge House, 1 Walnut Tree Close, Guildford, Surrey, GU1 4LZ. They may also be obtained, free of charge, from the address stated below.

Any person may object to the making of the order within 6 weeks from the date of first publication of this notice, by writing to the Secretary of State for Transport, National Transport Casework Team, Tyneside House, Skinnerburn Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE4 7AR, or to nationalcasework@dft.gov.uk, quoting the title of this notice and stating the grounds of objection.

In submitting an objection, your personal data and correspondence will be shared with National Highways as the promoting authority for the scheme. Should the order become the subject of a public inquiry all correspondence will be copied to the Inspector conducting the Inquiry and will be kept in the public inquiry library, where it is publicly available.

If you do not wish your personal data to be forwarded, please state your reasons when submitting your objection and the Secretary of State will copy your representations, with your name and address removed, to Highways England. If there is to be a public inquiry they will be seen by the Inspector who may give them less weight as a result.
