The electoral register and the open register

Find out how the electoral registers work and how to remove your details from the open register.

The electoral register (sometimes called the electoral roll) lists the names and addresses of everyone registered to vote.

It can only be used for elections, preventing fraud, and credit checks for loans or other applications.

The open register can be bought by any person, company or organisation. For example, it's used by businesses and charities to confirm name and address details.

Your name and address will be included in the open register unless you ask for them to be removed.

You'll need to contact our elections team to remove your details. It won't affect your right to vote.
