What's changed with tenant engagement and why

Find out about changes we've made to engaging with you as council tenants.

The way we involve tenants has changed and it's shaped by what you've told us matters most.

Our new approach came from a full Tenant Engagement Review that we carried out between October 2024 and January 2025. We do this review every three years to:

  • find out what's working well,
  • understand what you want more (or less) of, and
  • refresh how we work with you so that it matches your priorities.

We also used feedback from our most recent Tenant Survey, and listened to what was shared in our regular tenant panels and forums - including the Resident Engagement Panel, Disability Forum and Independent Living Forum.

You told us you wanted less formality and more flexible, practical ways to get involved - so we've listened.

We've removed things like the Community Champions scheme and the garden competition, and introduced new options like community listening days and a stronger focus on communication and feedback.
